PROMPT Ambulance Service is the largest private pre-hospital provider in Northwest Indiana.  While the changes in medical care over the past century have been monumental, the fundamental mission of the men and woman who work for PROMPT Ambulance has not changed.  Its 400 Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Office/Support staff and Management team work tirelesly 24 hours a day, 365 days a year providing state-of-the-art patient care with skill, compassion and dignity to those who are ill or who have been injured.  

A vast majority of the Paramedic staff started with ties to PROMPT at the EMT-B level and continued their training for the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level while working as Basic Life Support (BLS) field providers. We take pride in this fact, as it has allowed us to maintain continuity and a staff that is very familiar with our service area and the other providers in our system. The BLS staff does a mix of emergency and non-emergency work in an extremely busy system. BLS staffed ambulances respond to a significant amount of emergency calls and work closely with the ALS staff in the field and in training.

Currently, Prompt Ambulance Service provides contracted municipal 911 services to the following communities:

• Town of Highland, IN
• Town of Merrillville, IN
• Town of Munster, IN
